Soil Preparation
Soil should be raked level so that there is nowhere that water will lie. The ground should be left 25 mm below the level of paths and edges. If fill is needed we recommend that you use a good quality under-turf blend or 'minus one deco', as these are weed free and full of minerals, whereas all topsoil contains weed seeds. If you have weeds or old grass they should be sprayed with Glyphosate. It's a good idea to give a good watering of the bare ground to settle the soil. When the soil is firm again it will be ready to lay the turf.

Fertilizing
We use and recommend "Organic Link" because it is environmentally friendly, slow release, and contains everything the lawn needs including Neem to suppress lawn grubs. 100 grams per square metre 2 to 3 times a year is all you need in most cases.
Laying the Turf
It is better to lay turf in a staggered pattern, as in brick laying, and if on a slope, across the slope is best. Rolling is preferred but not essential. The most important thing is watering.
Watering
The turf should be watered as soon as possible plus a couple of times a day for 7 to 10 days to establish the turf. When its roots are down, a good deep watering once a week in Summer and once a month in Winter is enough. This will give you a healthy lawn without fungus.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT NO COUCH WILL GROW IN THE SHADE.
